In my previous blog, How to Design an Ebook, I went through the basics of how to design an Ebook so it looks professional.
Now I’m going to show you 5 ways to promote your Ebook so you can raise your profile and share your expertise, whether you’re offering this information for free or selling it as a product.
Website: The easiest and most common method is to promote your Ebook on your website. This can be done with a download page on the site containing a lead capture form where people are encouraged to sign up to your mailing list with the offer of a free Ebook. Once the person has signed up, you can send out a series of autoresponders with tips from the Ebook and any special offers.
Business cards: Put an image of your Ebook with a link to the download page on your business cards or any other promotional material. This is especially useful if you attend a lot of networking events. Make sure that the call to action to download the Ebook is eye-catching.
Social media: If you have a download page for the Ebook on your website, then you can send out a link to that page to your online contacts on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Give your contacts a reason for downloading the Ebook; make the offer sound interesting and compelling.
Kindle/ITunes: If you plan to sell your Ebook then you will want to consider publishing it on Kindle and ITunes. If you want to do it yourself, then you will need to set up an account with Amazon to publish on Kindle, and you will need a Mac to publish on ITunes.
Publish it: You can turn your Ebook into a physical product with self-publishing tools such as CreateSpace, Lulu, or Blurb. These are very cost effective ways of publishing your own material whether it’s a small pamphlet or a standard sized book. You can then sell these at networking events or trade fairs, or even on your website. In fact, offering a physical book for people to read may well be appreciated by your contacts, as it will make you stand out from the majority of your competitors who are just offering Ebooks to download.
These are just a few ways that you can promote your Ebooks. If you’ve had success with publishing and distributing Ebooks then leave a comment below – I’d love to know your thoughts!
