As I mentioned in my previous blog, How to Promote Your Ebook, Ebooks are an effective means of attracting leads to your business and raising your credibility within your industry.
There are various places that you can publish your Ebook to gain maximum publicity whether you want to use your Ebook to attract leads to your website or to sell online so you can earn a residual income and boost your authority.
So here are the main platforms where you can publish your Ebook so you can reach more readers and start bringing in a passive income stream for your business:
Your website. This is the easiest and most common way of publishing your Ebook by uploading it to your website. Save it as a PDF so people can’t edit the Ebook in any way. Either offer it as a free download for people who sign up to your mailing list or sell it via a sales page on your site with a buy now button that links to PayPal or other e-commerce software.
Amazon Kindle. If you want to sell your Ebook professionally then Kindle is the most popular platform to do this. You will need to format and convert your Ebook manuscript so that it can be viewed correctly on Kindle devices and apps. Amazon gives you full instructions on how to do this or even better, save yourself the time and hassle by hiring someone to do it for you.
iTunes. This is a more complex system than Kindle to produce and upload your Ebook. You have to use iTunes software to publish the Ebook unless you use one of their approved suppliers or third party platforms such as Smashwords or Draft2Digital. This means that you can’t publish to iTunes yourself unless you have a Mac computer, so you may find it easier to go through a third party publisher if you want to go down this route.
Nook. This enables you to publish your Ebook to the Barnes & Noble website; however, you can’t currently do this directly from the UK so you will have to use a third party publisher such as Smashwords or Draft2Digital.
In order for your Ebook to be uploaded to iTunes or Nook, it has to first be converted to an Epub file.
CreateSpace. As well as Kindle, Amazon also offers you the opportunity to publish physical copies of your Ebook via their publish on demand platform, CreateSpace. Unlike many other publishing options, you don’t have to keep stock of the book yourself and send them out to buyers. CreateSpace handles all this for you, saving you a lot of time and effort.
Now you know where you can publish your Ebook so you can reach more readers and earn more money.
Remember that all publishing platforms have their own specifications and requirements that you need to follow if you want to ensure that your Ebook displays correctly on the appropriate devices and readers. If you’re not technical then it’s strongly recommended that you find someone to do this for you as it can take up a lot of time and effort if you don’t know what you are doing.
